Yeah I hope so too. I was bummed going through 2 and a half hours of tests and stuff, to find it was probally nothing. The woman who went in before me, had a similar issue, and she was off to Waikato Womens for an induction. Ive been at the birth centre with the M/W since 2.15pm, just got back now. All seems okay, she didn't think it was waters, but she did note a clear mucous like discharge. She will see me again on Monday. She did this internal thing, and fawk it hurt. My cervix and a few nerves in my back started going off like crazy.

Usually no news is good news, but sorry to let you know I just had a great sleep in. I was anxious and up all night, and needed DF to get off to work this morning for me to be able to sleep.

No further lil gushes or anything. Just usual braxtons and sore back etc.

Midwife phoned this morning and wants to come over this afternoon, so will see what she says. I bet she is worried about delivering over xmas. Yeah same here. My midwife had warned me that false labour was more common with subsequent pregnancies and my contractions were really irregular until I went into transition.
I felt like such an idiot, I'd been saying to people all afternoon "Man, its really unfair that false labour hurts as much as the real thing!"
I was 7cms when I got to hospital!

i didn't know i was in labour either until my contractions were well and truly established and my mum and sis were demanding i ring the midwife!   charli was a week overdue and i think i'd convinced myself it was another false start

hehe I didn't know for certain I was in labour until the MW did an internal at the hospital and said I was 5cm dilated. Til then I thought it might be a false start lol

Keep a few towels by the bed just in case! Or even sleep on some in case they do break properly. I woke up aroundmidnight, heard a pop and got up and luckily I had a pile of towels right there else there would have been a big mess to clean up!! Nothing yet ladies. Just lots of cramping, some back pain and braxton tightenings. Not regular, and they say if you don't know if you are in labour or not, then you are not. Still feel like I could break more waters / or leak, but nothing yet. I am off to the loo every 5 mins and being paranoid, but it is still early stages so fingers crossed something happens during the night or in the morning.

Hi Tara, with any luck it would be your hind waters going, my hind waters broke at 11pm Saturday night (actually heard a pop but didnt think anything more about it till 2am) I was getting into bed so was lying down, contractions started bout 10 am & went into hospital sunday arvo, had Ashlyn by c-sect at 7am Monday morning

Hey ladyluck, my waters leaked a little, much like what you described and then broke properly 12 hours later, don't know how much exactly as was luckily sat on loo when it happened, but you will know that it wasn't wee!!! and it really is a gush!!!

Is best to mention it to midwife as if you don't have bubs within 48 hours they like to give you IV antibiotics at the birth cos of increased risk of infection. Is not dangerous to go longer that 48 hours before going into labour though, my waters broke 3 weeks before I had Spencer. Your waters are replaced every 3 hours so don't worry about it being dry in there!!! And yes they can do a swab to test, mine came back negative but when they did the ultrasound they saw that all the fluid had gone (so much for their stupid swab!!!)

If it's your waters, then it will be only a hindwater leak. But your mw still ought to know. If you lie down for 30-60 mins with a pad in, then get up, if it is waters you will have a pool of it by that time.

Otherwise it will just be increased discharge (ie thin mucous) which can happen in the last few days.

I have heard that for some people the waters breaking can be a non event as the baby can act as a plug so to speak.

Mine didn't break until part way through labour...actually I was pushing when they broke!!! so not sure how much help I am.

My waters broke with a gush (HEAPS everywhere!) and then continued leaking constantly, especially initially. They can leak slowly, but it could have been extra discharge (ewww!) or urine as well. Apparently amniotic fluid smells like semen, but cant say I smelt mine!! I would just keep an eye on it and see what happens over the next few hours. Hey all. This may seem like a TMI question but I need some advice.

I felt a mini gush of water about 5 mins ago. I wouldn't say it was alot, and it wasn't like a mishap kinda leak. It was clear and didn't smell like anything. I have since put on a pad and changed my clothes in case something big happens.

The last couple of days I have had loads of cramping and pains in my cervix.

I am hoping for the best, but I expected much more water if it was my waters breaking. Hopefully I didn't just pee myself (I went to the loo 5 mins previous and emptied my bladder and all was fine).
