A flat spot can also be due to long periods spent in car seats and prams ...I learnt this the hardway. My boy NEVER slept, and it got to the point that I had to resort to constantly rocking him in the pram and sometimes leaving him to sleep in there otherwise he would wake up when I tried to move him to the cot.

After only a week or so I noticed this flat spot on the back of his head and I did a bit of researching on the net, but luckily with time I have found that it has slowly started to correct itself, what with him spending the majority of his time either sitting up, standing or crawling and now sleeping on his tummy.

Alternating the sides in which you place toys on the ground or in the cot for him to play with/look at is a great idea, and sleep wedges are good too. Hey there, as Kabakat said - move the toys from side to side to encourage him looking around.
Have you tried a sleep wedge ? I only sleep Sam on his back during the day and at night he is in a sleep wedge and as a result has a wee round head and I'm not even that vigilant about which side etc as I tend to change sides when he dream feeds at 10.30pm.

You could try a Cranial Osteopath ??? Spencer has got a small flat spot as well, I tried putting him on his side but he would turn his head back on to its back to it never helped. Both plunket and gp have said it is not bad enough to cause concern and that it should come right now that he is not just lying on his back anymore. Stays on his front more and sits well in his chair etc.

I think Ollie is getting a little flat area on the back of his head. How can I stop this from getting worse? Will it pop back into shape over time? I have tried turning his head when he is asleep, but the spot is right on the back so not sure if that is helping or not. He doesnt like being on his side either!!

Any ideas?
