Wow Linzy 6 teeth! Thank goodness Sam only has two
I have noticed that Sam only does it when she is at the end of the feed and bored or grumpy too. I have started removing her if she starts mucking around and haven't been bitten in 2 days! Yay!

My son (7 1/2mth) has bitten me a few times, mainly when he is at the end of a feed and bored or grumpy. I tried telling him off and putting him on the floor but as he wasn't really hungry it didn't really do much. My Mum suggested giving him a little slap on the cheek. I know that it is probably not the "right thing" to do in this day and age but it has worked for me. He still does it on occasion but very rarely now, thank goodness as he has 6 teeth! I don't slap him hard, just a bit of a tap on the cheek which gives him a fright and then I put him on the floor for a minute or so. I used to say 'ow' (automatically) and put the girls (yes, at least 2 of them ) on the floor for a minute. They generally cried (cause they were hungry lol) and then I'd try them again. Made me so nervous though! I'd 'unwrap' myself then look out the baby's mouth and think why why why do I want to put myself into there?!!? LOL. Anastasia only did this a couple of times & I got such a shock that I frightened her & she didnt do it again on purpose till some months after.  When it happened again I had the same reaction .... didnt give her the same shock but there was a lot going on at the time she was drinking, family around, she wanted to drink but also wanted to play so I just put her down and waited till she came back & was thirsty.  She breastfed till bout 20 mths

Ouch about drawing blood!!!

Hehe Annie. Glad it's not just me. I actually think she has more teeth coming through so maybe that's why she has started.
I noticed this morning that she started to slow down on the sucking then her bottom jaw clenched a little and then "BITE". Little Ratbag! Char has started doing it again, as well, and she draws blood too, and LAUGHS!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I feel her stop sucking I take her straight off and pop her onthe other side and if she dosen't start "hungry" sucking straight away, I take her off, or else she bites. I tried the No, or Ouch and she looks up at me and smiles and giggles. Wee ratbag! I also tried pressing her into my boob to get her to let go and that didn't work either she thought it was a game!

OMG yes it REALLY hurts when bubs bites. When I say ouch or show any sign of pain my boy immedietely goes and does it again and again. He just loves getting a reaction out of me. So I have my little finger on standby ready to break his suction, and I sit him down and tell him 'No!' and i leave him for about 5 mins and go back to it.

He likes to laugh at me saying 'No' or 'Naughty' in a firm voice, cheeky little thing! You have to teach them tho, i say!

He only started getting his bottom teeth just under two weeks ago, and since then I have had to contend with blisters on my nipples and EXTREMELY cracked nipples, its as if my boy has forgotten how to latch and breastfeed properly since getting teeth. Lathering the PureLan ointment on and have nipple shields on standby. Although I might add he refuses to feed from them!!! oh! i was soooo going to post the same topic right now then found this!!!

Thanks Debs and Stacey. I had heard that about saying Ouch loudly, and did it yesterday everytime she bit me. I don't know how much effect it had to be honest though
I should probably add that she has done it before but it was a gummy bite. This is the first time she has started doing it with teeth. I found that if I reacted to it he did it more. i think a loud OUCH! and the shock of being pulled off did it for one of mine...

some people say that you remove them when they bite and tell them no - or there is the press their face gently into your boob school of thought.
