Our doc prescribes Pimafucort, does well around here.

Thanks for the tips ladies - poor little Ollie has a very sore bottom and we are not sure why, but the lactation consultant this morning suggested zinc castor oil, so we will try that. His seems so sore that he screams when we wipe him (we are using soft fabric clothes and warm water only) and we also think its affecting him being able to sleep....the poor wee thing is not a happy camper.

It was; I saw my dr that week 6 times and 4 times the week after, I had had enough of him by the end of the second week, but still had to see him 3 times the third week. I'm coming up a whole week now without having to see him (other than on the front page of the standard on the weekend), i'm very happy about that.

Carmel, tell you friend not to use wipes, just warm cloths to clean. And if it is as bad as what I think it is, my dr said just get the solid stuff off and don't worry about the rest as the skin needs to heal and wiping it "hyginecly" clean will only take the skin off that is trying to grow again.

Go to the dr asap. Josh's was like this and it was infected . We ended up having to shower him clean for a week, use oral antibiotics for a week and 3 different types of cream to clear it up.

We used zinc and castor oil, you can get it free on script or just buy it it is not too expensive. Sudocream is suppose to be quite good as well.
The trouble with creams though is that they can interfer with the absorbency of nappies (cloth and disposable) so is best to put cream on and then let him have his nappy off for a while as it soaks in.

Hi, a friend of mine has asked me what can clear up her boys nappy rash she said it is weeping, we have not had a bad case of it ourselves so I'm not much help for her.
