Thanks so much for all the tips. Dad had a much better feed last night as we broke up the feed with burps and a nappy change in the middle. We also had her in a more upright position.

Finally, on the advice of our midwife, we bought 6 No 1 teats and compared the flow rate by filing them up with water and comparing how fast the drops came out. It was amazing how different they were considering they are supposed to be all the same - same brand and same size. We used the slowest teat.

All of the above meant, a much happier baby, Daddy and Mummy. We had here settled and sleeping in 40 mins instead of 3 hours. All of you will know how huge that difference is!

So a HUGE HUGE thank you.

maybe she actually needs a faster teat, if she likes a faster flow but has a slow teat she will be sucking hard out and getting lots of air which will cause the wind problem. Also make sure that the lid isn't on too tight otherwise the air won't go into the bottle. And make sure baby is propped up and not lying flat or has head lower than body...Perhaps you need to try a different bottle/teat system...??? I tried the 'Pur' teat on Bella once and she took FOREVER trying to get the milk out, so I went with Avent (and as you have the opposite problem, it might work for you)

Make sure that dad isn't letting her suck any air in with the milk, so make sure that the whole teat is full up with milk all the time she is feeding.

You could use gripe water to help her burp it up. Otherwise I'd suggest rather than letting her finish the feed in one go, break it up a bit. Help! I am breastfeeding my newborn but have one bottle feed a day of expressed milk (Dad's night feed).

While we have no problems on the breast, baby slurps the entire bottle in about 4 mins flat! She has a very strong suck. After this feed she is then very windy, uncomfortable and unsettled for a couple of hours. The wind is very hard to get out unlike when we breast feed.

We are using Avent wide mouth bottles with the slowest teat (No 1).

Any ideas on products or techniques to slow the flow from the bottle or to relieve the wind?
