I was speaking to a nurse at the hospital re: Jolly Jumpers and she said also that they should only be in them 5-10 minutes.
She also mentioned that it was important that the feet were flat on the ground (something to do with the calf muscles).

yes I have heard that rachael-nick, I think it has something to do with too much pressure on their lower backs....this is also true with proping them up into sitting before they are ready too.
Everything I have heard about this though is that up to 10 mins at the time is fine so I'm going with that theroy

I put my first daughter in at around 3 months, then plunket told me you should wait till 5 months.

But last night our playcentre had a guest speaker from SPARC (sport and recreation NZ) very interesting. The recommendation is that you shouldn't put them in weight bearing aparatice until they weight bearing themselves. ie pulling themselves up to standing. This is the same for exersaucers.

er, OK, jolly jumpers are not such a great thing when there is a toddler around....Cailin thought Jeremy was in a swing and pushed him. Not so bad you say, well she kind of pushed him straight into the door frame.

I put DS in his at 3 months but it didn't really work as his head control was good enough. oh man, Jeremy is already almost 5 months old, I can't believe I waited so long...can't wait until tomorrow to get him into it!
Cailin was such a midget that she was never really heavy enough to get the spring springing so can't wait to see how high a normal weight baby can go!
