He loved and still loves his feet being massaged though. <br /><br />I personally love routines.. we wished we had used a routine from the beginning. Once we introduced a bedtime routine at about 6 weeks old, it made bedtime soooo easy. He knows exactly what to expect every single night, it's always the same and unless he is sick he goes down like a dream. We put him down wide awake and within 5 mins hes asleep, most of the time he just goes off without a peep.]]>

Somebody call CYFS! <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0"><img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley8.gif" border="0"><br /><br />We started out using Huggies Sensitive but it gave them wicked cradle cap so we used nothing for a while, then this really expensive natural stuff, then Johnsons Soothing Naturals, and the Soothing Naturals is great, even on Mercedes super, super sensitive skin.<br /> <br />I never did massage with them tho, I'm not a very touchy feely person, and it didn't really come naturally to me.]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=16236">Bombshell</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 11212<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 04 October 2007 at 9:44pm<br /><br />we did massage right from beginning....yes believe us in the article!!!! mum is a nurse ex midwife etc etc and showed me how, and i learnt to bath bubbas properly off her....as a result Ella loves bath time, no worries re water in eyes, and when she got oout loved being rubbed and massaged with either baby oil or lotion....<br /><br />in the bath we used real soft little clothes, put bath stuff on the cloth not on her....and gently washed, and did same with her hair, and made sure we squeezed water from cloth so it dripped onto her often and by 6 weeks we were making waves in the water to lap on her and she responded positively to that too....she now makes mega waves herself and blinks off water in her eyes (7 months)<br /><br />we had no problems with skin conditions etc etc....and i think the relaxing bath settled us all and set her up to sleep thru quite early on.]]>

Massage is probably a really great thing to start right from the word go and a good routine bedtime routine can never be started too early. ]]>

I did do some baths and lots of massages though, it definately seemed to help when he was unsettled. But remember your wee ones might hate being in the bath or they might scream when you take them out in which case it probably won't help wind them down.<br />Is good to get into a habit of putting them to bed while still awake though so that they learn to self soothe and also make night feeds as boring as poss so they learn the difference between night and day, we did this with Spencer and pretty much from day one he has resettled after his night feed with no crying and without needing to be rocked etc. (different story in the day though)<br />Hope you get something useful from that ramble]]>

We actually used Olive Oil which did a great job and she only smelt like takeaways for around 30 minutes until it was absorbed<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The Johnsons products can be a bit harsh on newborn skin. You dont need to worry about bathing newborns everyday tho. Once or twice a week is fine, and actually better for their brand new skin than washing everyday! Their bottoms will be cleaned like 12 times a day with each nappy change anyway!]]>
