Daniel gets like that. It can get a bit crusty. I wouldn't personally worry unless he was actually getting infected repeatedly (this could be confirmed by swabs of the yucky bits). yes me again....
I can't find the acticle it seems to have be removed form their site or something arather.

Ryan is a bit inflamed right on the tip and it's a wee bit blistered or the beginnings of it. I've only noticed it this afternoon when I changed his nappy, (which was completely dry after 3 hrs of sleep ) so I've had him running around with no nappy one for a few hours. Dh is unsure and says to take him to docs which I'll do tomorrow, I just a bit unsure of what to do if I get the 'he needs to be circumcised' talk. So I wanted to be prepared.

The other thing she was told was that her little boys wees to the side and he may need surgery to correct it.

Has anyone heard of this.

The foreskin wont usually contract until the child is 3-5 as this is when the skin sperates from the glands on the penile shaft.

I think there was a thread not so long ago about weather boys or girls were easier to clean. I always said boys but that could be due to the fact that I have 2 older girls and that is what I was used to, althou I still find cleaning Alize's bits and pieces a challenge sometimes lol.

Balanitis is an infection boys can get under their foreskin and if reccurent(sp?) parents are offered circumcision due to medical reasons if they want. Most patients that i came across that had boys with this problem declined the circumcision and opted for treatment until their child grew out of it. Some kids are more suseptible due to normal body flora  levels etc..

Yes peachy - the whole "don't go digging" theory is true. A girl is "self cleaning" as my MW put it. I find it so much easier wiping my girl than my boys! Having to move all the boy bits around to clean everything. At antenatal class on Saturday we just learnt about this! With both girls and boys apparently you only wash what you can see, there words exactly "don't go digging" especially in little girls. She showed us and just kind of wiped over them with the wash cloth while the baby was in the bath.

GandT I totally agree with you. Josh when he was around 3 or 4, kept getting sore - down there and the dr told me to teach him how to clean it by pulling it back - I wasn't confortable with it but being a single mother then I had no choice - I only told him what to do and he has had no probs since.

this site hereis an american site and mainly deals with reasons dr's may give to have a penis circumsiced and reasons not to but i found it had great info for me as a mum of boys re the penis and how the foreskin works.

I have a question for you... DH was asking me last night and I didn't know the answer...

When you bath your wee boy, do you have to, um, how do I put this politely... pull the *skin* back and wash under it? Cos would it get pee and stuff in there and get all scody?
