got the tommy tippee teats yesterday so going to try today and give her the bottle and see what she does. Mum looked after her yesterday for me for a couple of hours and she tried giving her the bottle, but she refused it...she doesn't know that she has to suck on it, the milk just goes all over for her face (and her clothes)lol
Plunket suggested that if she doesn't feed for an afternoon, then that's fine...but she is such a hungry little thing that I know that she would just cry and cry if she couldn't get any milk and I don't want that. Also she needs a couple of afternoon feeds so that she will get a decent nights sleep (and give me a decent sleep as well )

we too have been struggling with tristen trying to take a bottle & the closest we have got was when our friend looked after him for a few hours & he took the tommee tippee closer to nature one - like 3 x 100ml ones over 4 hrs LOL. Both DH & I try to give him one but he does prefer the real Mc Coy. We are trying every now & then to encourage him to take one as it would be nice for me to have sometime out & not feel like i have a leech permantly attached :) and i will also be returning to work at some stage.....

I've heard of babies who take the Tommee Tippee closer to nature teats, but are fussy about all the other ones... maybe worth a shot?

I am using the avent bottles/teats at the moment, so I might try another brand and she what she does. One of the wider teats that is closer to the shape of the breast/nipple might make a difference -- Emma Rose never liked the "traditional" narrow ones, but once we got her some of the wide ones, she was fine. It took several tries before she'd go for it, though. I found that when she wasn't terribly hungry was a good time to start, as she wasn't so desperate for the breast that she simply got upset and frustrated. Sucking from a teat is very different from sucking from a breast, and it sometimes take them a bit of time to get used to it. We had to get the super slow flow teats for Em, as the faster flow ones made her choke and sputter. Just some ideas! :)

Try some different types of bottles/teats. There are heaps of different kinds, and she will probably prefer one shape over the others. Does she have a dummy? Have you tried getting someone else to feed her. Elle wouldn't take the bottle from me to start off with, I think it was a case of why have the bottle when you can have the real thing. And they can smell you (the milk on you).

Hi I am trying to get my 10 week old baby to take a bottle of EBM and she doesn't want to take it- every time we offer it to her she starts crying or making a face. Have tried putting the teat in milk first,but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting her to take a bottle?
