Depends on their neck muscles. McKayla had really good head control at birth so from the beginning. If he doesnt have good head control just start with him lying on his tummy on you or lying on the bed with your arm under his head and go from there. ]]>

Hannah didn't like tummy time at all; crawled at 10mos (and only for 3 weeks - preferred walking). It was summer so they spent most of their play time nappy free.<br /><br />I did tummy time with them from a week old, 5 or so mins after every feed. PLunket recommend after feeds as it helps them to bring up wind. Mercedes was a big spiller, I used to prop her up over a pillow so there wasn't so much pressure on her tummy.]]>

He wees every time but the mat or nappy catches it. They get a better range of movement without the restriction of nappies and clothes. ]]>

Isla still pees when her nappy is off,...but its worse now cos she can crawl off the towel now! Hehe! <br /><br />Tummy time is any postion bubs is on their belly, so it doesnt actually have to be them lying on the floor. Lie on the floor and have bubs belly to belly with you,...great for dads to do too,...or have bubs lie on your legs when you sitting down.Or lie bubs on the ground and lie down on the ground next to them so you looking at each other. It can be a nice fun time for both of you!]]>

I put him on his back for a while first (so he could wake up properly!) then on to his tummy.  He didn't seem to mind it too much.  He kind of flipped back over onto his back at one stage which gave him a fright!<br /><br />]]>

Just try and when they dislike it, roll them back. I know Plunket pushes this like crazy but IMO when they do it is not as important as they imply.<br /><br />ETA: We could never give Briona tummy time because she was so spilly (reflux). Like shell said, before a feed, or I used to do it between feeds.  Give one side, change nappy & leave off for a few minutes & lay them on their tummy, then put nappy on & feed the other side.  Also gives them time to bring their wind up between feeds.<br /><br />Or before their bath.]]>

I usually do it BEFORE I feed her (otherwise she is too dopey/sleepy and just face plants into the floor!). I do it for 5 mins first thing in the morning, when I get her up and change her, and then another 5 mins at night before her bath.
