we have a convertible one but havent had a chance to convert yet as we keep having babies...!!!
My 2 yr old is still in it as a cot and we plan to take the sides off soon...

if you buy second hand be careful of the size... i think a lady on here got a cot but that had to have a special size mattress made for it...and had a few problems getting one. You should look at what mechanism the sliding side has, if it uses one hand or two, if it has 2 levels (quite handy apparently), teething rails are good but not essential (I assume you could get these put on if you wanted to?)

Fleury - I don't think solid or slatted ends make much difference apart from the look. It might if you had the end of bubs cot near a drafty window, but I would hope you would have the draft blocked anyway before you put bubs there. We have the bed that converts, but we are still in the standard cot, we have not taken the sides off yet, Tyrell sleeps all over the place so just waiting a bit longer.

We took a while to choose our cot, but went with a pretty standard 1, we were lucky enough to be given the cot as a present. I would have gone for one with open ends, but we were given 1 with solid ends.
Now given the fact that my boys is a real mover I am happy we have the solid ends!

I noticed at baby city they had convertible cots, convert to junior bed, day bed.
Has anyone got one of these, and have you used the extra features or are they a waste of $$.
Also some cots have rails on the ends, and some are solid which is best? That would be fantastic!  I figured I would have to get a new matress for the cot so I factored that into our budget

My husband wants to buy an ez rocker, but I thought we could at least hold off on the stand until the next one comes and we could just clip the ez rocker into the cot for now (as when the next one comes, this one will be asleep in the cot ... hey a new form of bunk bed lol)

The cot will be in our room .... I cant bear the thought of having her in another room (well at least at first)

We have our boy in an ezee rocker, its fab! Kayla was in it too. We brought the stand that goes with it so we could have them in our room for the first wee while and now James is in his cot in it. It has been well worth the money and we got it quite cheap on TM.
Our cot we got new but off a lady who sells them on TM, its great! Buying second hand you want to check all the screws are there, the paint or vanrnish is safe and non toxic, it has no nobbly bits on the tops of the corners and the spaces between the gaps is safe. I would buy a new mattress too. You could be surprised how much a new cot is? Hi all ...

I'm currently looking into purchasing a cot (Im trying to get the big two out of the way, cot and pram).

Can anyone give me any ideas on what I should be looking for? 

We thought we might just rent one of those ez rocker bassinette things for the first few months which would save buying a bassinette so thats sorted...but apart from a white cot Im not sure what features I should be looking for in a cot (especially since Im going to try and get one 2nd hand).

Thanks soo much in advance, this oh baby forum has been a saving grace since Ive found it.
