Have always used a tummy-tub with my son and have to say, he loves bath time and so do I!

It can be a little tricky to get all about his bits, but that's mainly because he likes to grab the flannel off me so I just do a quick second wipe just after I've taken him out and have him snuggled in the towel.

DS had colic when younger and the tummy-tub was great for soothing him - as Mel said on the previous page, relaxing enough to get lots of farts    The shape of it is also designed to help young babies feel secure so they are less frightened of bath time... I think this has helped my boy to become a real water-baby.

We used it for our newborn, found it useless as he was too floppy and we couldn't reach down far enough easily to wash him properly.

Put it away thinking it was a huge waste of money, then pulled it out about 6 months, and found we loved it. Once he could support himself sitting upright, DS loved it, especially because he could easily reach his floating toys, and it kept him warmer. Used a lot less water than a bath, and we don't have any suitable sinks (we're on tank supply).

Gave up around 8 months as I felt his feet were getting a bit too squished (he's got little fat legs). I used a normal baby bath at first, then when the little'un got too big (and wriggly) to lay down, but couldn't yet sit I got a tummy tub. He loved it

He did often stand up - seemed to depend on mood, but was often happy just to sit in it and play. I have heard it can be hard to wash a newborn in it, and I did find it was hard to reach his nether regions unless he was standing - so good for a soak and playtime but not always ideal for a proper wash - which was generally okay as we don't soap him every day anyway.

He's just over a year now and we stopped using it maybe two months ago. He would stand and lean and it got to be we were always catching either him or it. Now he stands (and sometimes sits) in the big bath.

I got it off TradeMe for a good price, and was well pleased I got it to cover that middle period. We borrowed one from a friend when DS was little and to be honest I didn't really like it DS loved to stand and so he'd just stand in it all the time, kind of defeating the purpose. Perhaps it would be better when they were really tiny? I like it cause I can use it on the floor and it can be used when she gets older until she's able to sit / stand in the shower by herself

We have have one and I'm not sure why, but we just found the bath in the change table easier. Only used it once or twice. I didnt say it wouldnt work, but it wouldnt work the same and its in the shaping inside of the tub...

A bucket is flat n the bottom where as the tub is curved so when they move it acts like a washing machine plus the position the are in is more womb like and is what aids the tummy issues.

Ive not seen a baby bathed in one who didnt at least fart lol

I don't mean to be rude but why wouldn't a bucket work? I just ask as I always used a bucket with my son and was planning on with my next too but if there is a reason why this would be better I'd love to know. We got given one when DD was about 3 mths. Used it occassionally, but don't think it was any better than a normal baby bath. We didnt have one, we just used a normal baby bath which we still used in the lounge where it was warm. I am sure that they are lovely, but a bit gimmicky in my opinion. I have one and I love it, we don't have a normal bath and I'm able to bath her in the lounge where is warm and it only takes 7 litres of water so its not too heavy to carry.

I am an Aunt to my 2 year old niece and she absolutely loved hers she bathed in it every day till she was about 9 months old ish...
You can purchase them at Nature Baby in Auckland they have two stores one in Grey Lynn and one in Newmarket.
Only thing is that you can't purchase the stand in New Zealand. You can in Australia though. I purchased mine in Sydney on sale for $54 from Babies Galore in Chatswood.

Aw I love these, we had a lady come to our anti natel class to demonstrate. We had already spent the $ on a standard which we only used for a small amount of time.

I didn't think the price was too bad with, Rubydooby looks like you definately got your moneys worth!

Yip, I've got one! Brenna loves it and it is so worth the money. We can give her a bath in the lounge where it is warm and it is good for when you travel and doesn't take up lots of room in the bathroom when not in use.

Here she is last week (9 1/2 months) She looks a bit funny cause she was trying to get out to look in a mirror we had infront of her. She generally jut sits in it normally
